I know that drinking diet soda in place of regular soda supposedly leads to weight gain, however, is it really harmful if you drink diet soda once in a blue moon. I rarely drink diet soda, let alone regular soda.
I’m health conscious , yet I am not sure if drinking diet soda once a week or once every other week is bad.
its not bad once a week but if your trying to lose weight drinking
caffeine slows down how fast you lose it. why drink diet there just as bad as the real better kind. i prefer to drink sprite no caffeine so all i have to do is burn the suger =]
I see that diet soda is calorie and sugar free, so it seems like a great alternative to regular soda which is loaded with sugar, and the taste really isn’t that different.
Are there any negative health consequences with drinking diet soda?
Thank you.
#1 You gain more weight than from normal sugar. I can link you to some studies for this.
#2 Aspartame is highly addictive, so you will drink more soda than you would otherwise.
#3 Aspartame is incredibly toxic (since it was originally developed as a chemical weapon), and the previous posters have listed some of the many side effects from the substance. It should not be in the food supply, but when Regan came into power, his friend owned the aspartame company and got him to fire the FDA director and replace him with one who would approve it.
If you care about learning more of the wonderful properties of aspartame, watch this!

When you want to relax why settle for some other diet soda? I drink TaB. Maybe you should too.

I dont eat a lot of calories during the day, and when I am craving something, I just open a can of diet soda and its easier to battle cravings that way because its 0 calories…I am not over weight I just like to watch what I eat. So will this actually make me gain weight? And if I quit it would i suddenly drop a lot of weight?
If you replaced all the diet soda with water, you’d lose water weight. Although diet soda has no calories, it does have sodium. Less sodium and more water equals a loss of water weight. You’ll also get a lot less puffy, since water retention caused by sodium makes you look puffy.
Good luck!
I’ve been reading that the artificial sweeteners in diet pop is a lot worse for your health than regular. But does it make you gain more weight than the regular kind? One site I read said it does. But a regular soda has 170 calories I am limited to 1300 a day that’s a whole half meal or so for me.
drinking diet pop will not make you gain weight, as a matter of fact that’s probably the only good thing about drinking diet pop. The health concerns that you are referring deal with the side effects of consuming ASPARTAME, a main ingredient on most diet pops. Depending on the individuals immune system, aspartame can case serious health problems in the eyes, ear, brain (neurological), chest, stomach, etc… the most common of all is the memory loss (psychological) as researchers have found that there is a direct correlation with aspartame and Alzheimer’s. You also asked about the calorie counts per day. Nutritionists and Dietitians will agree that a 1300 calorie count per day is good. But, soda is also not recommended to be part of your daily diet.
There are many reasons for skin that’s not healthy but diet is one reason. Refined foods like white flour, sugar, coffee, and soda can deplete your energy, cause wrinkles, and quite simply create unhealthy and unattractive skin. Why not choose a diet for healthy skin?
Of course there are other reasons for unhealthy skin like smoking and improper cleansing but diet play a big role in maintaining healthy skin. Your diet needs to have the proper protein, fats, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, and vitamins and minerals. Lots of nuts, seed, grains, fruits, and vegetables, milk, yogurt, and milk will help keep your skin young and healthy. Let’s have a closer look at what a diet for healthy skin entails.
Let’s start with the Vitamin B family as the first step for a diet for healthy skin. B1 aids in circulation while B2 can stop the formation of liver spots which are ugly. In fact even if you already have liver spots just 6 months on B2 and they’ll disappear. B6 can improve eczema. You can quickly see that the vitamin B family is important to healthy skin. Foods rich in Vitamin B include green leafy vegetables, Nuts, whole grain cereals, meat, and liver.
A diet for healthy skin will also include the right amount of vitamin A which also produce healthy hair and eyes. It is also good for healthy blood circulation which will give your skin a healthy glow. You can find a good source of Vitamin A in dairy products, eggs, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, melon, and papaya.
Foods rich in Vitamin C need to be par of your diet for healthy skin. It works in conjunction with protein for the production of collagen which is the glue that keeps your skin from sagging and wrinkling. It is also essential for healthy hair, teeth, and eyes. It will strengthen the capillaries so that your skin has a nice even tone and it will reduce dryness. Vitamin C is found in foods like broccoli, green peppers, tomatoes, lemons, oranges, cantaloupe, strawberries, kiwi, potatoes, cherries, black currents, and grapes.
A diet for healthy skin will include foods rich in Vitamin D. Of course the sun produces D but it can also be found in milk, tuna, salmon, butter, or sprouted seeds. You also need Vitamin E to prevent wrinkles and premature aging. Vitamin E is found in whole wheat bread, milk, asparagus, broccoli, spouted seeds, egg yolks, olives, nuts, and leafy green vegetables.
Your diet for healthy skin requires protein to keep the skin looking youthful. Protein has collagen which is the glue that keeps the skin free of wrinkles. Add protein foods like avocados, nuts, fish, meat, poultry, eggs, dairy, vegetables, and wheat germ to your diet. Also include unsaturated fats found in nuts and vegetable oils. And of course you need to drink plenty of water to hydrate the skin.
A diet for healthy skin is also a diet for healthy organs and an overall diet for health which will not only keep you young and healthy on the outside but also on the inside too.

I have been lifting weights and trying to eat better for the past 8 months, I am getting bigger, but my stomach is not losing any inches. I am doing cardio regularly. But my one large downfall is i drink alot of diet soda.
Diet soda drinks most often contain an artificial sweetener called aspartame. This is a neurotoxin and carcinogen. Aspartame, like other excitotoxins such as MSG, has been shown to contribute to weight gain. It may have zero calories, but it plays with your brain chemistry and may diminish your mental acuity. The FDA approved this chemical under extreme political pressure and it is controversial.
The best way to lose weight is to avoid artificial sweeteners and natural sweeteners completely. You should try to reduce your sweet tooth to a large extent. Eating whole fruits is the best treat or sweetener and it acts over a longer period of time. Avoid most refined carbs, sugars, artificial sweeteners, fats, and salts. You need very little fat (Omega-3) and salt in your diet. You do not need refined sugar, refined carbohydrates, animal fats, and animal proteins (pork, beef, poultry, eggs, and dairy). A pure vegetarian diet is the healthiest diet in the world, and if you maintain it, you will work toward your naturally ideal body weight.
I lost 50 pounds and kept it off by eating a vegan diet. Give it a try for a month and see if you don’t feel much better.
I hear ppl lose weight when they stop drinking soda. diet soda has no calories and no fat, just gas and caffine can those things make you fat?
Diet sodas have no sugar, calories or fat. Can’t get overweight.
