Can pop (soda) lead to Pancreatic cancer? What ingrediants would cause that?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

You are referring to a recent study that said that as little as 2 sugared sodas a week can lead to pancreatic cancer. The soda industry says that the study is flawed. No surprise there as this could ruin the industry.

More tests will have to be conducted, so we probably won’t know anything for years yet. It is best to limit all kinds of soda, because too much sugar is harmful to body sugar levels, and the pancreas makes natural insulin, so this initial test might hold some promise. (Too bad for soda industry) Artificial sweeteners are not good for you either. Aspartame (Equal) has been proven to be addictive. Sucralose (Splenda) has been proven to give you diarrhea, thus inhibiting your body from absorbing nutrients. And the jury is still out on Stevia as tests on that are still running and results won’t be available for a number of years.

Why do they say that diet soda is bad for you?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I know that it’s always better to drink water then anything else but I hear from personal trainers that diet soda is really bad for you. Why is that?

Here’s the thing, there is a theory that drinking diet soda makes you crave more sweets, so in essence, it causes you to ingest more calories, and empty calories at that. So, if you’re aware of this, you can make the choice not to have additional sweets. There are those, also, who think that carbonation is bad for you.

Too much diet anything would be bad because of the artificial sweeteners. sodas made with splenda are better choices than those made with aspartame. Foods that use sugar alcohols to sweeten them, like malitol, can also cause stomach distress if you have too much of them. There also tends to be more sodium in diet drinks.

Remember, now, that all of the current theories on what’s bad for you are constantly evolving. Some years ago, eggs were the spawn of Satan…until they weren’t. Take what you hear with a grain of salt. The easiest way to eat healthy is to eat a balanced diet of foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. It is far better for you in the long run to have, for example, a spoon of real sour cream than to have twice as much of the low or non-fat version. With the real thing you’re eating nothing but cream, and with the others, you get a little cream with a list of chemicals as long as your arm.

Are there any diet soda’s out there that do not contain aspartame?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I am wanting to drink a diet soda that is not made of aspartame.. this stuff is dangerous to the body.

I think the only one out there without aspartame or splenda would be Tab, which contains saccharin.

None of them are any good for you. Better to brew some tea and drink it unsweetened.

WHY CANT THE SODA COMPANIES MAKE DiET SODA TASTE JUST AS GOOD AS REGULAR SODA?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I hate the taste of diet soda. It has no calories or carbs. Coca-cola and many other soda companies make a diet version of the regular kind. To me the regular kind taste good. But the diet soda taste terrible! Why cant they make diet soda with no calories taste exactly the same as regular soda?
Why cant they make something healthy that actually taste just as good?

I can taste the difference in both diet dr. pepper and coke zero. The fake sugar leaves such a bad aftertaste it sometimes makes me throw up.

i have often wondered this as well, but i guess until scientists come up with a better artificial sweetener, or find out how to take the calories out of regular sugar, we just have to either drink the calories or find a way around the taste.

I would just like to add that the artificial sweeteners may be very dangerous to our health. We are just starting to see the long term effects of some of the first ones invented, but things like Splenda are new, and we won’t truely know if they are safe for many many years.

What are the dangers of drinking diet soda with aspartame or splenda?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Is one safer than the other? Can I drink one diet soda a day and be safe??

I used to drink ALOT of Diet Coke with Aspartame …upwards of 12 cans per day, until I noticed I was forgetting things I always knew. Things like the word, "monitor" when looking at a computer monitor. I thought at fiirst I was just going "stoopid!", but someone told me that it’s memory loss caused by Nutrasweet/Aspartame. When I cut out the Diet Coke and went back to regular Coke, within 30 days, my memory returned again and I’ve been fine ever since.

Why is it that diet soda has no calories but regular soda has 100-150 calories?

Monday, October 19th, 2009

The only difference ingredient-wise is that regular soda has sugar and diet doesn’t. Are all the calories in the sugar? They put 100-150 calories worth of sugar in a soda?

Yes.

Ordinary soda has 100-150 calories worth of sugar. Diet soda usually has a roughly equivalent amount of aspartame, though some diet sodas (such as Coke Zero) use sucralose (a.k.a. Splenda.)

diet soda isn’t all it’s cracked up to be though; aspartame doesn’t get the endorphins (pleasure sensors) in your brain going like sugar does, and it may cause severe health issues.

Aspartame, Sucralose, NutraSweet, Splenda are put in diet soda and other products. Studies have show that these chemical substances are not necessarily safe and can actually keep people hungry.

Is it okay to drink one bottle of diet soda everyday?

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

I usually drink all water and then one diet soda just to treat myself because sugary drinks are bad for you and fattening… Is drinking one bottle of diet soda everyday going to cause anything bad?
I’ll probably just switch to once a week. Thanks everyone.

actually artificial sweeteners (which are just real sugar but with chemicals added so the sugar passes through your body…except trace amounts of sugar and chemicals stay IN the body via absorption into the blood stream) will make you crave sugar and store it more than natural sugar will. plus…the chemicals are just not all that healthy. splenda is the latest. this means it has less time on the market, less time doing long-term health studies on..i avoid it and trust the other artificial sweeteners more, but not much more.

to treat yourself, you can make your own healthy soda. use club soda/seltzer and squeeze a fresh orange in (or any fruit you like)

or what i do is take all natural no sugar added juice and mix a little with water or club soda.

not as strong as soda..but healthier. and you won’t crave sugar. and it’s less than 50 cals.
